Triptych Nostalgia - Nicolas Raymond on the Trail to Tintagel Castle & Merlin's Cave (Raymond Family Archives circa 1990s)

]]>Triptych series of old film photos with me posing on the trail towards Tintagel Castle & Merlin's Cave in Cornwall, England (UK). Circa 1990s.

I don't remember all that much from my teenage years, but I recall it was very windy that day as you might notice from the camera shake on the third photo. In fact, it was the last day I would be seen wearing that white hat because the wind blew it off my head and into Merlin's Cave!

I would venture to say it's my mother Una Raymond who took the photo since it was just the two of us visiting that day. But with these old film photos, I have decided to place the copyright notice in the name of Raymond Family Archives. Quite different than the vintage prints I am scanning, and in many cases, I cannot determine who the exact photographer is; except that it came from someone in my family. Prints have also been disabled, mainly due to lower image quality.

I Want Out

]]>Old photo of me as a toddler in the early 1980s caged up in a crib. Obviously I wasn't too happy, this Dr Adams put an extra 'h' in my name Nicolas that has no business being there! Kidding aside, I believe I was in the hospital recovering from pneumonia or an ear infection. You'll have to forgive me, my memories from those days are rather hazy...

Credits to my late father Gérard Raymond for taking this picture. Je t'aime toujours papa ❤️

Joie de Wedding

]]>Old film photo of my parents Gérard & Una Raymond on their wedding day in 1980. Dad came from a French-Canadian background whereas Mom comes from a British one, so I had a little fun mixing French & English together in the title. Don't think I need to tell you what Joie means 😄

]]>Photo of me as a child in the mid 1980s. Smiling and sitting on the trunk of the family car, we were vacationing in Québec, Canada at the time. After high school, I moved to Montreal and lived there for 15 years. Now I'm back where I belong in Maryland :-)

Photo Mosaic Adventures of Gérard Raymond

]]>Mosaic frame of photos portraying my late father Gérard Raymond and his various adventures in life. Something I had put together for his funeral service in 2010, now it decorates one of the rooms at home.

Despite leaving before his time, Gérard lived a very full life. He loved to travel the world as you might see from the photo mosaic, but always remembered his Québec roots and French heritage 💙🤍⚜️🇫🇷

Joie de Vivre: Gérard Raymond

Thu, 05 Nov 2026 18:04:50 GMT

]]>Photo of my late father Gérard Raymond taken from a roll of slides he had marked Virginia Beach 1979. Gérard would go on to live until March 30, 2010 when he succumbed to pancreatic cancer. I still miss him very much to this day, but keep a print of this photo next to my computer as a constant reminder that life is worth celebrating. Translated from French, "joie de vivre" means "joy of living".
