As the title suggests, this song was inspired by Henrietta Maria. Originally from the Bourbon royal family of France, she became Queen of England, Scotland and Ireland after marrying King Charles I in 1625. In turn, King Charles officially chose the name Maryland in Henrietta Maria's honor. First as an English colony / province, then the US state of Maryland as it remains known today.
