Queen Conch Photo Setup

Queen Conch Photo Setup

Snapshot of the setup I used for photographing a queen conch shell within the Invertebrate Zoology Department of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC, USA. As a special request, the shell was larger than I was accustomed to, and had to borrow a reversible copystand from a colleague so I could capture the shell in its entirety by placing it closer to the floor. It took a fair bit of improvisation, but the requestor was happy with the end result 👍 Here's the finished image plate combining five separate angles and a ruler for scale.
