Google Maps screenshot showing the area surrounding the Site of the Home of Nicolas Martiau in Yorktown, Virginia, USA.
It was the first Historical Landmark I had the chance to add to Google Maps, but that was more of an accident to begin with. More like I had captured
this plaque photo during one of my travels and put it on my queue for sharing on Google Maps; only to realize it did not exist on Google Maps, yet...
Shame because I thought that plaque was pretty special. Not so much for its aesthetic appeal, but it cites Nicolas Martiau - originally a Huguenot from France - as the earliest American ancestor of General George Washington and Governor Thomas Nelson. A fact that appears not well known, so I figured it was worth a shot adding to Google Maps. Glad to see it got accepted. Vive le souvenir français 🇫🇷
